The magnitude and the position of the point of action of the crushing force is the basis of structural strength design of jaw crusher and also an indispensable calculating parameter for choosing prime motor power. As the basis for crusher designing, it is necessary to measure the crushing force of different models of jaw crusher under different working conditions. The detailed measuring methods are two types, namely direct measurement and indirect measurement.
(1) Direct measurement
Use four pressure sensors that are fixed on the walls in front the machine frame and that have carried out mechanical rating on the press machine to lift the fixed jaw plate through the ball ring. When the crusher works, the crushing resistance force of the materials inside the crushing chamber will be transmitted to the four pressure head through the fixed jaw plate and the ball ring, and after measuring the strain signal of the pressure head, then the magnitude and the position of the point of action of the crushing force can be calculated. This measurement has relatively high precision, but the shortcoming lies in that it needs to manufacture special pressure sensors and the accessories to measure it, and need to repair the front wall of the machine to install the pressure head.
(2) Indirect measurement
Indirect measurement is to measure the strain on some spare parts, and calculate the magnitude and the position of the point of action of the crushing force through the measured strain. The biggest advantage of this method is that it does not need to manufacture special measurement element or repair the crusher.
The indirect measurement can also be divided into side wall strain measurement and movable jaw toggle strain measurement. The former is to calculate the total tension of the side wall, which refers to the crushing force, by measuring the side wall strain and its distribution. The latter is to measure the strain of the toggle and the strain of several sections of the movable jaw, and according to the strain, convert the magnitude and the position of the point of action of the crushing force. If it is difficult to install the pressure head or the side wall strain cannot be precisely measured, the latter measurement is suitable to be adopted.
